Google Maps in the customer app

The customer app shows Google maps when a customer picks their address. (The seller and rider apps don’t need a key.)

  1. Google Cloud console → the same project as your server key → APIs & Services → Library → enable Maps SDK for Android and Maps SDK for iOS.
  2. Credentials → Create credentials → API key. Restrict it:
    • for Android: Android apps → your package name and SHA-1;
    • or create a second key for iOS: iOS apps → your bundle ID.
  3. Android: add it to apps/customer/android/local.properties:
    GOOGLE_MAPS_API_KEY=AIza…
  4. iOS: copy the example file and add the key:
    Terminal window
    cd apps/customer/ios/Flutter
    cp Maps.xcconfig.example Maps.xcconfig
    ios/Flutter/Maps.xcconfig
    GOOGLE_MAPS_API_KEY=AIza…
  5. Stop the app completely and run it again (a hot reload doesn’t pick up the key).

A grey map with a Google logo means the key is missing, restricted to the wrong app, or the Maps SDK isn’t enabled.
